Introducing Samantha and John

23 December 2008

rs22I photographed Samantha and John in Santa Fe and a cold cold November day.  They are both living in Texas and just love Santa Fe, Samantha’s family grew up in the area.  We were originally going to shoot in Albuquerque at the Elana Gallegos open space.  The morning of the shoot Samantha sent me a text message asking if we could reschedule to Santa Fe.  The stars must have been lined up just right for these guys and we were able to switch locations last minute.  I am so glad we did.  We met up at El Farol and went walking around Canyon road past the plethora of galleries.  I really think Canyon road has the largest concentration of art galleries on one street than anywhere else.

Rumor has it, Samantha’s family can trace their roots back to Geronimo.  Pretty cool stuff, we couldn’t rightfully know that and not get a shot with the sign.

A Great couple and a great time was had by all.  After the shoot we met up with Samantha’s folks and stopped into El Farol for a beer and a chat about the wedding.

Thanks a lot guys, I had a great time and I look forward to photographing your wedding.

Amber and Michael – The Wedding

11 December 2008

amberl1

I’ve been looking forward to Amber and Michael’s wedding for a long time. I knew from the first day I met them that it would be an awesome wedding and I was so excited that they chose me to photograph it!  Imagine…October 25th at the Prairie Star.  What could be better than that? Seriously? Plus they had an all star team; Rebecca Chaney from the Prairie Star coordinating,  Rob from Distracted By Decor in charge of turning the banquet room into a wedding wonder land, flowers by The Flower Gallery, Jim Gross from Carousel Of Music rippin’ it up in his live guitar set and DJ-ing the dance later as well, and, you know, me – DeAnna from Dry Heat Photography.

To Amber and Michael, Thank you so much for making me a part of your special day!

meganmoore3

Megan and Raul were sent my way by my friend Michelle Patterson whose wedding I shot a little over a year ago. This Engagement Session was on November 2nd at the Alameda Open Space. Megan and Raul are getting married in January at the Hotel Albuquerque. As you can see, the fall colors are peaking at this point. The trees are just incredible!

Rebecca And Her Saint Bernards

8 December 2008

rebecca1

This session was on December 1st. Some of you may recognize Rebecca as the wedding coordinator extraordinaire at the Prairie Star Restaurant in Bernalillo, NM. This day, however, was not about weddings, it was about Rebecca herself and her three “kids” – the Saint Bernards.  When we first talked about doing this I wanted to go to the Bosque and Rebecca tactfully explained that this was not a good idea. At the time I didn’t really see what the big deal was but agreed that we could shoot the session at her home.  I also did not fully appreciate what she meant by “slobber and fur”.  In my defense I had never actually met a Saint Bernard before. Well on this day I met three! They are huge but, despite their massive size, they are gentle giants who just want to sit in your lap and lick your face.  They are also very playful and getting all three of them to pay attention at the same time was, um, somewhat challenging but they did it at least a few times and, most importantly, we all had a great time!
