Kristin and George – The Wedding

31 January 2009

kristing22

Well you’ve all had a sneak peak at Kristin and George’s wedding from Kristina Zidon’s introductory post. In addition, their Engagement Session was this fall at the Alameda Open Space.  Kristin and George were married on January 17th at Risen Savior Church and the reception was at the Marriott Pyramid. This wedding was organized a bit differently than normal. We started at the bride’s house with some getting ready photos, then headed to the Marriott Pyramid where we had scheduled a time for the bride and groom to see each other for the first time, and then we finished most of the rest of the photos there at the hotel before going to the church for the ceremony. The ceremony started at 6:00 and, of course, it was dark by then and that is why everything was shot before hand. Kristin and I planned this whole day out minute by minute in order to ensure that everything went smoothly and that there was enough time to get everything done. I was very impressed, though not surprised, that we pulled the whole thing without a hitch! Shooting this wedding with me was Kristina Zidon and she did a fabulous job as always.

To Kristin and George, Thank you so much for making us a part of your special day!

"Best Of" video from Fall 2008

30 January 2009

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbiyGxtnF74]

I just ran across this video, I had sort of forgotten about it.  It’s a little best of 2008 I put together last fall for a bridal show.   I can’t wait to do another one with all the weddings we have shot since then.   I wish there were more hours in the day, I’m just having to much fun with this stuff.

Kristina Zidon – Back In The Saddle!

22 January 2009

As always, things change fast around here and as Dry Heat Photography continues to grow the opportunity to add another awesomely talented photographer to our roster of wedding photographers has presented itself.  Now this is not just anyone off the street. This is the one and only Kristina Zidon! She is our good friend, collegue, incredible photographer and gifted album designer. Yes, Kristina is multi-talented and we are so thrilled to have her as part of our team!  When she recently found herself unencumbered you better believe her first phone call was from me and the conversation went like this;

ring ring ring

Kristina -” Hello?”

Me- “Hi Kristina this is DeAnna, you have to shoot weddings for us!”

Kristina- “Well, if you insist...”

Me – “Woo Hoo!” ;-)

One small technical difficulty is that most of Kristina’s portfolio is owned by her previous employer. This is not a problem, per sey, because I know full well what kind of photography she is capable of.  It is, however,  just a small inconvience. Therefore, our first matter of business is helping her to rebuild a new portfolio.  Kristina shot a wedding with me last weekend that was steller! I have included some of her shots with this blog entry but there will be many more in the official blog entry for that wedding – which is coming soon…

Elise and Jesse – The Wedding

22 January 2009

elise2

I’m not sure what we did to get so popular with the Los Alamos crowd but they sure do seem to like us and we like them too!  It all started with Valerie and Tony. It’s a long story that is not necessarily relevant to Elise and Jesse but I’ll just say that apparently Valerie recommended us to everyone she knows and we sure do appreciate it!  Anyway, back to the wedding at hand. Elise and Jesse were married on December 27, 2008 at the Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos. It was a warm and cozy event inside and over a foot of snow on the ground outside. Rick and I shot this wedding together and it was awesome, so much fun!

To Elise and Jesse, Thank you so much for making us a part of your Special Day!

Walker Family Portraits

19 January 2009

walker1

The Walker Family consists of Emily, Matt and Josie. Some of you may recognize Emily as Dr. Walker from the Albuquerque Cat Clinic.  I can honestly say from personal experience that there is not a better veterinarian in Albuquerque than Dr. Walker. If you have a cat there is only one place to call!  This session was on December 7, 2008.

Annemarie and Mark – The Wedding

19 January 2009

Annemarie and Mark were married at the Prairie Star in September. (I’m a bit tardy on blogging but better late than never.) This wedding was so much fun!  I met Annemarie over a year ago, she was one of the first weddings I booked.  I have since shot her brother Adam’s wedding as well.  Believe me, this family is a blast.  (Keep your eyes peeled for Adam and Misty’s blog entry coming soon).  As always the Prairie Star was wonderful and Jim Gross from Carousel of Music took care of the tunes.  It’s always good to get to hear a bit of live music.  It’s so nice when everything comes together and makes for a great wedding.  I really can’t say enough how much fun these folks were.  0016

Chris, Monica and Jonas … and then there were 3.

Some of you out there may recognize Chris Romero as the awesome DJ from Cutmaster Music. I know Chris and Monica because I shot their wedding several years ago and have worked many wedding receptions with them in the years since.  As you can see there is a new member of the Romero Family, their son Jonas. I shot this session on November 4, 2008 at the Alameda Open Space and the fall colors abound!

A Simple Plan – Jason, Janna and Zak

18 January 2009

jc1

On December 6, 2008 Rick and I realized we still had no photos to use for our Christmas cards. Call it the bus driver’s vacation but we just don’t enjoy being photographed and seem to make lots of excuses to put it off. Well, our good friend and fellow photographer, Jason Michael Christopher, had the same problem so we put our heads together and devised what seemed to be a simple, yet genius, plan; Jason and family would come over to our studio and we would take turns photographing each other and everyone would be happy. Jason’s son, Zak, had a somewhat different agenda but the ensuing chaos provided it’s own entertainment. Sometimes one just has to resign themselves to the fact that you can’t force children to cooperate with portrait sessions. The best thing to do – roll with it.

While I’m a roll of blogging Engagement Sessions from October, here’s another one! I shot this session on October 22, 2008 at the Alameda Open Space. Heidi and Keith are getting married in May but they love the fall colors! You can see why, I mean what’s not to love?
