Kristin and Andrew tied the knot on May 16, 2009 at Casa De Suenos, in Albuquerque.

This wedding was a blast!  I have never seen so many people laugh and cry and laugh and cry in one day than I did at this wedding.  Such a nice group of people and what a great couple, you can tell they are truly in love.

Thanks so much you two, for letting me be part of your special day.

Just as we are starting some “romantic” pictures of Kristin and Andrew, Kristin hears Journey playing.  It was critical that some serious lipsyncing must happen.

You’ve all met Jennifer and Derek in their Engagement Session last fall and Jennifer’s Bridal Session was a few weeks prior to the wedding in Old Town.    On June 20, 2009 Jennifer and Derek tied the knot in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Course.

Soul Portraiture continues with “A Lifted Spirit”

The Dry Heat Gallery is proud to host this series of juried fine art photography exhibitions.  Soul Portraiture is a journey into the essence of life.  In a series of four shows we will explore the energy and spirit that defines life through a variety of subject matter.   “A Lifted Spirit” is open to the artist’s interpretation. Both professional and amateur photographers are invited to submit up to five images illustrating a soaring spirit and expanding consciousness.  

Rules For Submission

Jury fee of $25 may be paid via Pay Pal or by check. To pay by Pal Pal click here. You will be re-directed to a secure page. If paying by check please make checks payable to Dry Heat Photography.  Please note that we are not able to consider your work for this show unless the jury fee has been paid.

Artists may submit up to five digital images sized no larger than 485 pixels in any direction.  Please include image titles, format, and finished sizes for each image.  Send images with artist’s bio and resume to info@dryheatphotography.com.

Deadline for submission is  August 25, 2009

All accepted artwork must be delivered to the gallery (framed and ready to hang) no later than August 28, 2009.  All artists are responsible for the matting and framing of their own images and all artwork must be ready to hang when delivered.  Works selected by the jurors will demonstrate excellent composition, technical skill, and a strong sense of presence.

All participating artists are invited to attend the shows so that they may be present to represent their work. In addition, there will be prizes! At each show gallery directors DeAnna Dimmitt and Rick Meiers will conduct a “People’s Choice” poll in which everyone who attends the event will be able to vote for the piece they like best.

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

1st Place – $100 Cash

2nd Place – $50 credit towards framing services at Dry Heat Gallery

3rd Place -  $25 credit to be applied towards the jury fee of the next Soul Portraiture show

An artist’s reception will be held Tuesday September 1, 2009 at the Dry Heat Gallery

You’ve all met Andi and Robb a few weeks ago in their Engagement Session. On June 12th Andi and Robb tied the knot in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Hyatt Tamaya Resort.  As it turns out, I wasn’t their only wedding vendor to be enamored with them.  The coordinators at Tamaya kept telling me how great Andi and Robb are, such nice people, and, obviously, how beautiful Andi is.  To which, I could only think to myself “I have the greatest job ever”.

To Andi and Robb, thank you so much for making me a part of your Special Day!

Once again we spent four days in May photographing the Zia Classic Arabian Horse Show at the NM Expo Horse Complex.  This is one of our favorite events and we look forward to it every year!

I would like to thank Dr. Walker from the Albuquerque Cat Clinic for once again rescuing Pumpkin Head from the brink of disaster.  As most of my friends and family are aware Pumpkin Head fell ill at the end of the last week and, of course, that means the whole rest of the world grinds to a halt.  Unfortunately, it all happened in the middle of the night, and on a weekend, so we spent most of the weekend at the Emergency  Clinic.  To their credit they were able to  prevent her from becoming massively dehydrated but the vomiting, that ultimately caused the problem in the first place, continued.  First thing Monday morning we were in Dr. Walker’s office and shortly there after the vomiting stopped and eating and digesting resumed. (Happy Dance )  Pumpkin Head is getting up there in years and seems to have a knack for developing abnormal problems that require the expertise of a specialist.    Take it from me, if your cat is in need of medical attention, you can save yourself a lot of money, wasted time, and heart ache by just making the Albuquerque Cat Clinic your first call.  505.323.1460

You’ve all seen Jennifer before in her Engagement Session with Derek last fall.  On June 10th I shot her bridal session in Old Town.  This was actually the first bridal session we’ve done in Old Town and I was quite pleased with it!  While we were shooting this session Jennifer’s mom reminded me that we had first her at the 2008 Zia Classic Arabian Horse Show. She had been an exhibitor in the event and had come over to our booth to find out about our wedding services because her daughter was getting married.  I had completely forgotten about that because Jenn had handled everything else.  At their Engagement Session I realized that I knew Derek from my brief stint in the UNM Music Education program circa 1994 and at the wedding I realized I knew about half the guests.  Apparently it IS a small world after all!

The wedding itself was on June 20th at Paako Ridge Golf Course.  Keep an eye out for it!

Well by the time of their wedding I had known Heidi and Keith for quite a long time.  I shot their Engagement Session last fall and more recently I did a special session for them at the Elena Gallegos Open Space.  On May 30th Heidi and Keith tied the knot at Mandy’s Special Farm.  Prior to this wedding I had never heard of Mandy’s Special Farm but after spending some time there I realized that it is indeed a special place with an important mission.  Mandy’s Special Farm is a long term residential center for teenage girls and women with autism. Heidi is the executive director of this organization.

This was a beautiful wedding and I had a blast shooting it!

You’ve all seen Lisa and Chris in their Engagement Session last summer.  On April 25th Lisa and Chris tied the knot in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Inn At Paradise in Rio Rancho.  This wedding ending up being a 3 photographer wedding: myself, Rick Meiers, and Kristina Zidon.  We introduced a service at this wedding called the Dry Heat Photography Party Booth.  Kristina ran the party booth while Rick and I shot the reception.  As you will see from the Party Booth pictures, a good time was had by all
