Walker Family Portraits – The many faces of Josie

20 November 2009

Meet the Walker Family; Emily, Matt and Josie!  This is our 3rd consecutive year of photographing the Walkers and some of you may recognize Emily as Dr. Walker from the Albuquerque Cat Clinic. I’ve known Dr. Walker for 3 years and she saves my cat, Pumpkin Head, from certain disaster about 2 or 3 times a year.  I can attest from experience that there is no finer feline veterinarian in Albuquerque than Dr. Walker.  Take it from me, if you’ve got cats the only place to go for exceptional health care is the Albuquerque Cat Clinic.

Most of the photos in this blog entry are of Josie.  She is so cute and expressive!  I meant to only pick a handful of images and ended up with 20 but what the heck, the more the merrier right?  I also love her cute kitty outfit.

To the Walker Family, thank you so much for being repeat clients (and for saving my cat! ;-) )

Diane, Peter, Corey & Zoey

18 November 2009

I’ll start this entry off by saying, “welcome back.”, I say this for a few reasons;

1. I’m back, I’m actually here blogging rather than just working in the top-secret lab.  Dry Heat has big things in store for 2010, we’ve been like little mad scientists developing our new creations.

2. I welcome back Diane and Peter.  I meet Diane and Peter about 3 years ago when I photographed their wedding.  The world of social networking is such a wonderful way to reconnect.  It’s great to see these two again.  Their wedding was one that really stood out, I had so much fun with them and their family, truly great people.

3. Welcome back autumn.  I love fall in New Mexico, Balloon Fiesta, snow on the Sandia’s, chili roasting in parking lots and the spectacular colors in the bosque.  Diane, Peter, Corey and Zoey’s session in the bosque really seemed to capture New Mexico’s autumn.  A special thanks to Diane and Peter and their well-behaved dogs.  We made it through the entire session before any dogs made it in to the water.

This family is made up of quite the entertaining lot of people, as you will see.  I shot this Engagement Session on June 21, 2009 and have actually already shot their wedding which was just a couple weeks ago at the Hyatt Tamaya.  For everyone who is wondering why we haven’t updated the blog in several weeks -Lots of time spent shooting equals less time for blogging but fear not loyal blog readers, there is MUCH MORE to come!

Some of you may recognize Shauna as the publisher of the Perfect Wedding Guide of New Mexico.  I know Shauna and Jacob because I shot their wedding on August 7, 2005.  Since then they have become a happy family of four; Shauna, Jacob, Ally and Adam.  Rick and I shot this session on March 28th at the Botanical Garden.  It is always such a pleasure to watch our friend’s families grow!

Three and a half Lujans

2 April 2009

Meet Kaylene, Eric, Bella and soon to be Marcus.  I am blogging this session well after the fact, so much so that there is already a blog entry of Bella and Marcus and Marcus is 6 months old!  I had, of course, intended to blog this session right away but you know how it is, the pace of life continues to accelerate and it just didn’t get done, until now, that is.  This session was on April 2, 2009 at the Dry Heat Studio and today is March 15, 2010 but I am retroactively placing it in the time line where it belongs.

There is something fun about photographing babies and toddlers.  I don’t know if it’s their true curiosity, or the fact that all the adults act like clowns to get them to smile, or if it’s the wonderment in their eyes.  Whatever it is, it makes for an enjoyable afternoon.

DeAnna and I had the opportunity to photograph Madison, Tonya and Matt last weekend, oh and Milo the golden-doodle.  What an incredibly sweet and fun family.  We had such a great time with them.  I don’t know that Milo was having as much fun though.  Granted, the barks we heard from the road made Milo sound fierce but… He is not to sure about the cameras.  _mg_1691rsb1

Walker Family Portraits

The Walker Family consists of Emily, Matt and Josie. Some of you may recognize Emily as Dr. Walker from the Albuquerque Cat Clinic.  I can honestly say from personal experience that there is not a better veterinarian in Albuquerque than Dr. Walker. If you have a cat there is only one place to call!  This session was on December 7, 2008.

Chris, Monica and Jonas … and then there were 3.

Some of you out there may recognize Chris Romero as the awesome DJ from Cutmaster Music. I know Chris and Monica because I shot their wedding several years ago and have worked many wedding receptions with them in the years since.  As you can see there is a new member of the Romero Family, their son Jonas. I shot this session on November 4, 2008 at the Alameda Open Space and the fall colors abound!

A Simple Plan – Jason, Janna and Zak

18 January 2009

jc1

On December 6, 2008 Rick and I realized we still had no photos to use for our Christmas cards. Call it the bus driver’s vacation but we just don’t enjoy being photographed and seem to make lots of excuses to put it off. Well, our good friend and fellow photographer, Jason Michael Christopher, had the same problem so we put our heads together and devised what seemed to be a simple, yet genius, plan; Jason and family would come over to our studio and we would take turns photographing each other and everyone would be happy. Jason’s son, Zak, had a somewhat different agenda but the ensuing chaos provided it’s own entertainment. Sometimes one just has to resign themselves to the fact that you can’t force children to cooperate with portrait sessions. The best thing to do – roll with it.

Rebecca And Her Saint Bernards

8 December 2008

rebecca1

This session was on December 1st. Some of you may recognize Rebecca as the wedding coordinator extraordinaire at the Prairie Star Restaurant in Bernalillo, NM. This day, however, was not about weddings, it was about Rebecca herself and her three “kids” – the Saint Bernards.  When we first talked about doing this I wanted to go to the Bosque and Rebecca tactfully explained that this was not a good idea. At the time I didn’t really see what the big deal was but agreed that we could shoot the session at her home.  I also did not fully appreciate what she meant by “slobber and fur”.  In my defense I had never actually met a Saint Bernard before. Well on this day I met three! They are huge but, despite their massive size, they are gentle giants who just want to sit in your lap and lick your face.  They are also very playful and getting all three of them to pay attention at the same time was, um, somewhat challenging but they did it at least a few times and, most importantly, we all had a great time!
