Elizabeth and Aaron’s wedding at the National Hispanic Cultural Center

28 January 2011

Elizabeth and Aaron were married on September 3rd and this event took us to 4 locations all in all.  The day started with everyone getting ready at The Marriott Uptown then I went with the girls to the Marriott Pyramid North for family and wedding party photos and Rick went with the guys to the National Hispanic Cultural Center for their “pre-wedding” photo set.  The ceremony and reception were both outside at the Cultural Center and then, a couple weeks later, we met up with the newlyweds at Elena Gallegos Open Space for their post wedding session.  We don’t always shoot post wedding sessions as they are not usually necessary but, occasionally, depending on the circumstances surrounding the event, it is sometimes not possible to take all the photos the bride and groom want within the limitations of the wedding day itinerary.  For instance, we could not be photographing Elizabeth and Aaron at sunset in the foothills AND shooting their late evening ceremony at the Hispanic Cultural Center at the same time.  The post wedding session can serve as an excellent solution to address these types of dilemmas.

To Elizabeth and Aaron, thank you so much for making us a part of your special day!

Nicole and Bryan – The Wedding Book

1 September 2010

You’ve all seen Nicole and Bryan in their Engagement Session last fall on Canyon Road in Santa Fe.  Well, the big day has since come and gone and here is their wedding album, featuring Dry Heat Signature Album Design, to prove it!  Nicole and Bryan were married on May 22nd at St. Bernadette Church.  On the way to the reception at Embassy Suites we all took a little detour over to the UNM Duck Pond for some greenery and shenanigans with the wedding party.   While all this may seem satisfactory for a wedding day performance, Nicole really wanted sunset photos in the mountains and the day-of scheduling had rendered this impossible.  :-0  Not to worry though, the following evening Rick and I met them out at Elena Gallegos Open Space (and yes, they did suit up again just for this extra session) and the sky delivered in spades!    On a side note, I feel compelled to mention that Nicole and Bryan are some of the most compassionate people I’ve ever come across.  It’s rare and inspiring nowadays to find two people so concerned with the welfare of others.  The beautiful thing about owning Dry Heat Photography is that it has become a platform for attracting wonderful people like Nicole and Bryan into our lives.

To Nicole and Bryan, Thank you so much for making us a part of your special day!

Introducing Andrea and Caleb

18 May 2009

andrea3

A few weeks ago Andrea called me to schedule this session. Like many of our clients Andrea and Caleb are friends with our friends Caitelen and Greg, although I didn’t know it at the time.  Shortly after Andrea called, Rick and I had gone to dinner with Caitelen and Greg and Greg proceeded to tell us all about his friend Caleb….  Small world huh?  Anyway Andrea and Caleb are lovely, as you can see.  When we first started the session Caleb says “you’re going to tell us what to do, right, because we’re not models.”  Ironically, I barely told them to do anything.  They’re naturals ;-)

Heidi and Keith – The Mountain Shots

15 May 2009

Heidi2_1

You’ve all met Heidi and Keith before in their Engagement Session.  Their wedding is coming up in a couple weeks but recently I received an email from Heidi saying “I want mountain pictures”.  The ceremony and reception are all at the same place in the valley and there would be no way to tactfully leave long enough to drive up to Elena Gallegos and shoot these photos on the actual wedding day so we decided to do a “Pre-wedding Romantics” session.  I really enjoy these sessions because there is no pressure and no timeline.  No one is waiting on us so we can run all over Elena Gallegos and take as long as we want.  The sunset was beautiful and we stood in the parking lot talking until the rangers started driving by to see if it was safe to lock the gates.

Thanks Heidi and Keith, this session was really fun ;-)
