Atsuko and Conrad – The Wedding

22 January 2010

Atsuko and Conrad were married back in April in the Hummingbird Garden at the Hyatt Tamaya.  You all may recognize Atsuko and Conrad from their engagement session back in March.   The wedding was loads of fun and quite educational.  I learned about some Japanese wedding traditions, mainly, tea, fruit trees and sake but I’ll get to that a little further down the post.  Linda Mertz from Awakened Weddings presided over the ceremony and did a spectacular job as always.  Thanks, Conrad and Atsuko for letting me be part of your special day.

The very cool tea set for the ceremony.

These traditional wooden sake cups were pretty sweet.  As was the smashing of the sake barrel.  I can honestly say that in 15+ years of shooting weddings, I have never seen anything like this.  Nor had I ever tasted sake, note to self, when drinking sake from a wooden box, drink from the corner otherwise you’ll end up with a little mess.

I couldn’t resist the graphics on this one, just in case there wasn’t enough excitement in smashing a sake barrel with a wooden mallet.

Taylor and Cameron – The Wedding

19 January 2010

You’ve all seen Taylor and Cameron before in their Engagement Session and now you can see their finished wedding album!  I had already designed the album and since I hadn’t blogged the wedding yet I figured why not just blog the album pages.  Rick shot both the Engagement Session and the wedding.  Taylor and Cameron tied the knot on August 8, 2009 at the Hyatt Tamaya Hotel and Resort in Bernalillo, NM.

To Taylor and Cameron, thank you so much for making us a part of your specia day!

Andi and Robb – The Wedding

9 July 2009

andiwed22

You’ve all met Andi and Robb a few weeks ago in their Engagement Session. On June 12th Andi and Robb tied the knot in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Hyatt Tamaya Resort.  As it turns out, I wasn’t their only wedding vendor to be enamored with them.  The coordinators at Tamaya kept telling me how great Andi and Robb are, such nice people, and, obviously, how beautiful Andi is.  To which, I could only think to myself “I have the greatest job ever”. :-)

To Andi and Robb, thank you so much for making me a part of your Special Day!

Valerie and James – The Wedding

One of the first things that Valerie said to me during our initial consultation was “I have to be honest with you, I hate being photographed.”  “Oh good”, I thought, “a challenge”.  Well, she wasn’t kidding. Valerie really doesn’t like to be photographed but she still wanted photos so we reached a compromise. I was would lay low, play it cool, keep it as simple as possible and she would smile when necessary. This worked out pretty good. The wedding was on November 15th at the Hyatt Tamaya in Bernalillo but I have also included a couple shots from their Engagement Session at the UNM Duck Pond since I just realized (way after the fact) that I had never blogged that session. Their Engagement Session was very short because about 15 minutes into it the sky let loose with a torrent of rain that seemed akin to the apocalypse. We ran for cover.

To Valerie and James, Thank you so much for making me a part of your special day and for smiling when necessary ;-)

Esther – The Bridal Session

2 December 2008

estherv1

Sometimes the forces of the universe conspire to create something magical. The light, the weather, the trees – the AMAZING trees, the golden hue of autumn – all of those things set the stage for an amazing bride that also happens to be wearing my all time favorite accessory; the cathedral length veil! This bridal session was on October 15th in the bosque near the Hyatt Tamaya. I should note here that this is something that is not normally allowed at the Tamaya, special permission had to be obtained further contributing to the magical nature of the whole thing.  Esther’s wedding was also at the Hyatt Tamaya on November 1st. I think it is also worth mentioning that Esther was referred to us by Beth and Patrick and you’ve all seen Esther before in her Engagement Session at the UNM Duckpond. This bridal session was a wonderful experience and I am grateful to have been part of it.
